Dear HKICC Friends,

First of all, I’d like to wish all of you a very happy 2010, and hope this year brings you what you are looking for.

For many people, a new year means new, new choices and new hope for the future. That’s why we tend to think about lifestyle changes in the New Year, and make resolutions, hoping to keep them for the year, and hoping that by sticking to a few resolutions, we will see dramatic changes by the end of the year. Yet, how often have we failed to follow our self-made promises before even the second or third month is out? Why are resolutions so hard to keep? Here are some tips, from the perspective of life coaching, to help you actually keep the resolutions you make this year...

Dear Readers,

On Hogmanay (New Year’s Eve) in Scotland, housewives make a clean sweep of the house, take the ashes from the fire, set a new hearth, and clear all debts before midnight. Throughout the world, different peoples have different traditions as they clear out the vestiges of the old year, look to make a clean break and welcome in a New Year on a happy note...

What led you into coaching?
I wanted to help people to find and lead brighter lives.

Who do you typically coach and counsel?
I focus on women, particularly career women in China.

How does coaching in Hong Kong compare with other places where you’ve coached?
In comparison with China, my experience is that most coaches in Hong Kong are of high quality and are keen to grow rather than earn money as quickly as possible. Hong Kong also offers a more stable, supportive environment for coaches. Coachees in Hong Kong appear to have a better understanding of the true nature of coaching than those in China.
