Message from the Executive Vice President

Dear HKICC Friends,
Usually, when a potential member enquires as to the benefits of joining HKICC, they are referring to tangible benefits. They are interested in knowing what the returns are for their dollars. They may want to know about our marketing strategy, our advertising costs, or how many hits our coaching directory gets in a month.
Although these may be important questions, I'd like to focus on one of the most underrated, least tangible, but to me, the greatest benefit of being a member of the Coaching Community. That is, being part of the community support network itself.
First of all, bear in mind that it takes a certain personality trait to be a life coach. This personality trait is also often seen in anyone in the personal development field, and this extends to human resource managers, counselors, therapists, etc. as well.

10 Ways to live fearlessly!
American life coach Rhonda Britten has written several best selling books, been on Oprah numerous times and was a star on the Emmy award winning TV show Starting Over. She talked to Anita Lam of Beats Magazine in Hong Kong about the best ways people can stop dreaming and start doing...
1. Acknowledge Yourself Fully.
2. Stretch, Risk and Die.
3. Have Eyes of Gratitude.
4. Ask 'Am I Making This Up or Is It true?'
5. Have Compassion For Yourself.
6. Make Yourself Accountable.
7. My Needs = Your Needs.
8. Ask For Support
9. I Love List.
10. Everyday Say 'I am Willing To Be Fearless!'

| Fear of Success |
 |
So you suffer from a fear of success, do you?
Adapted by Carole Lewis from:
http://www.achieving-life-abundance.com/fear-of-success.html
Don't worry, you're not alone.
This is actually much more common than you may realize and it can be a frustratingly confusing issue to deal with.
After all, you dream about becoming great at what you love to do.
You think all the time about how wonderful it's going to be when you finally hit your achievement goals and have all the great stuff that'll come with success.
The only problem is that you never seem quite ready to take yourself "over the hump" to achieving the life abundance you know you deserve.

| Embrace Fear and Let it Go |
 |
|
Did you know that to embrace fear and let go is to begin living once again?
Adapted by Carole Lewis from:
http://www.achieving-life-abundance.com/embrace-fear-and-let-go.html
"Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live."
- Dorothy Thompson
I'd like to discuss with you first what fear does to you, then talk about this idea of embracing it, and finally, what happens as you release fear from your mind.
I emphasize your mind because, yes, fear is all in your mind. Pretty much everything you're afraid of has a solution but your mind is keeping you from discovering it.

Art Therapy is a unique form of psychotherapy, where exposure to the art materials and the process of image-making supported by the art therapist, can enable the client to activate his/her creativity to help reach a fuller potential. Making visual images (painting, drawing, models etc) in the presence of a qualified art therapist contributes towards the externalization of thoughts and feelings, which may otherwise remain unexpressed.

HKICC is in the process of setting up a collaboration with "Next Chapter", a Hong Kong based events management company. Next Chapter is in the final steps of starting up a Speakers' Bureau, i.e. an agency that finds appropriate speakers for companies and other organizations who need an expert to deliver a keynote speech, workshop, seminar, etc.
Next Chapter promotes both local and overseas speakers and already has some best- selling authors from Harper Collins, including Robin Sharma (The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari), Dr. John Grey (Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus), Dan Ariely (Predictably Irrational), Jeffrey Kluger (Simplexity) and a couple more on board.

What led you into coaching?
In 1999 during my NLP training, I came across a coach from US who really inspired me in my personal development.
What does coaching mean to you?
To me coaching is not only about change, it is about growth, reflection, self awareness, action, learning and breakthrough. The most important aspect for me is that coaching can bring out the best in you. Most coaching helps people achieve results; the greatest coaching helps people be the best that they can be.

Dear Readers,
This month's Top Ten List offers some tips on how to live fearlessly - a subject dear to my heart!
How many of us use our gifts to serve others and live up to our full potential? In my experience fear of responsibility, fear of success, fear of being seen to be selfish or bragging are the main reasons that people play small.
Shining our light, on the other hand, is the choice to make if we want to own our power and be empowering. When we shine and celebrate our life, it allows us to feel passionate and open up to all of who we are. This month I invite you to shine!
