Message from the President

Dear HKICC Friends,
The biggest challenge companies face these days - particularly in Hong Kong and China - is to recruit, engage and retain top talents.
In the New Year of the Rat I can’t envision that these challenges will go away, therefore, I want to briefly elaborate how coaching might be an effective tool in all three areas, talent recruitment, engagement and retention.

Good coaches care about the people they coach. This is a simple thought but a true gift when it plays out over a long period of time. When genuine care is not in play the definition of success is quickly blurred if not completely compromised.
The 1996 Oscar winning movie Jerry Maguire is a great story about the heart of a sports management professional, Jerry (Tom Cruise), who is stressed out and lands in a frenzy about making money, even at the expense of the health and families of his athletes. He ends up having a nervous breakdown.

Director of Inspired Change; Career and Personal Coach, Certified Trainer of NLP, Certified Trainer of Time Line TherapyTM, Master Hypnotist, BA Business
What led you into coaching?
During my first NLP training course I experienced the power and effectiveness of the techniques and knew instantly that this was what I wanted to do with my life. Whilst I had a successful career in marketing I knew I could make a bigger difference to others by assisting them in letting go of negative emotions and anything that holds them back from achieving greatness.

| Trends in Executive Coaching - a Global Survey |
 |
For the third year in a row, a global survey conducted by Sherpa Coaching, an executive coach training and certification organization based in Ohio, has gathered information and insight about executive coaching and leadership development from coaches themselves and from those who hire them.
The survey reveals the latest trends in executive coaching: 1) coaching as a leadership development tool, rather than a problem-solving mechanism; 2) in-person coaching; 3) regular and structured meetings, with fixed-length engagements; 4) adoption of industry standards for training and certification.
