Meet our Coach Members

Michelle Gabbe
Success Coach, Energy Medicine Practitioner

What led you into coaching?
As it turns out, I was coaching for many years and didn’t realize it! I had been happily applying a ‘coach approach’ to a regional management position before I’d even heard of coaching as a profession. Eventually I formalized my natural approach with training in coaching skills.

Who do you typically coach?
Most of my clients start coaching paralyzed by procrastination or perfectionism, or both. There are no coincidences – these are issues I’ve struggled with myself, and I believe that clients are drawn to a coach who they sense, on some level, will understand them at a deep level.

How does coaching in Hong Kong compare with other places where you’ve coached?
I’ll celebrate my 14th year as a Hong Kong resident this November – it’s the only place I’ve coached!

What is your favourite coaching tool/technique?
Guided meridian tapping is a quick, easy way to release the mental blocks that keep people stuck in unwanted ways of thinking and behaving. When a client enters a session really angry about a work situation for example, I suggest they tap on certain energy meridian trigger points on the face and hands while they talk through the situation. Pretty soon, the anger clears and they often gain insight into a long-held pattern of being triggered into anger. The new awareness can then empower them to make changes in this area of their life.

What makes you a great coach?
That I believe with every cell of my being in the expansive potential for human growth. I place no limits on what my clients can achieve.

What do you feel passionate about?
Conscious parenting – appreciating that it’s not simple genetics, but rather parents’ beliefs, behaviors and attitudes that profoundly program their children’s lives, from the prenatal period onwards.

As a leader in HKICC, in what direction(s) would you like to take the organization?
I aim to help create an even more collaborative, supportive community for the growth and development of our member coaches.
