Meet our Coach Members: Glynis Ferguson
Certified Fearless Living Coach, Member of The International Coach Federation, member of HKICC

What got you interested in coaching?
Chance (except there is no chance!)…a marital crisis led to a chance meeting with Helen Revans, a Fearless Living Coach here in Hong Kong, and with her coaching I began the process of transforming my life. Then I was drawn back into it – and now I have found my passion!

Who do you typically coach?
People who are aware that something needs to change in their life - those who feel stuck…those who feel something is missing or not working…those who feel powerless or are struggling….those who want to work on relationship issues…those who want to gain more confidence – and who are willing to do the work to change.

What makes you a great coach?
I have great skills in seeking clarity of understanding and in expanding my clients’ awareness of what they want to change in their lives. I am able to build rapport and provide a safe environment in which my clients can be themselves, yet I am not afraid to ask uncomfortable questions. I am willing to be fearless and ask deep thought-provoking questions that can challenge perceptions and beliefs; and I go with my intuition on feelings behind silence, which allows me to sit in silence with my client. Silence is rich!

Tell us something unique about your coaching style.
I look to see the beauty in my client’s uniqueness. This brings me to a place where I want people to know themselves. To know the truth of who they are, I coach to uncover my client’s fear-based truth, then I go deeper to uncover their real truth, their essence. Awareness offers choice; with choice comes the possibility of transformation. Next comes believing in themselves! My message to my clients is - believe in yourself, you are already brilliant.

Do you have a favorite tool/technique/psychometric assessment?
My coaching is based on Fearless Living principles, having a relationship with our emotional fears – becoming aware of what we say, do, think, feel when we are in fear and uncovering self-limiting beliefs. Freedom from fear comes from knowing our fears, then looking at how we can make more empowering choices and be with our fear knowing that “Fear is an affirmation of our growth” (Rhonda Britten).

My favourite tool is my needs=your needs. All needs are equal, other people’s needs are not more important. For people-pleasers or those who fear being rejected, this tool supports in allowing them to take care of their needs and ask for what they want. This takes courage for it involves being vulnerable in sharing yourself. The gift is we learn to trust ourselves, to set boundaries, we can achieve intimacy, we get to own our power and our self-confidence grows. If we want equality in relationships we need to learn to state our needs.

What is your greatest accomplishment?
Changing the way I parent – shifting from a place of thinking that I know ‘best’ to one where my intention is to be supportive and allow my children to have their own unique process. I have learned that when we are over-responsible under the guise of caring, we take away from others the gift of learning their own lessons.

What do you do for fun?
I love traveling, hiking, fine art drawing and for fun like to go Art Jamming, dancing and skiing
