Catherine Florent
VP Professional Development – Executive coach, Director of Energie creative – Certified NLP practitioner, Coach U and Corporate coaching graduate
What led you into coaching?
I’ve always had a true interest in individuals and their unique qualities. In consulting and advertising so far, I enjoyed drawing out creativity and executives’ own talents for the sake of clients’ brand building. Actually, the more I respect individuals in their uniqueness, the better they perform. Then in multinational corporations I figured out many times that such behaviour, bringing individuals’ ownership and satisfaction, would really benefit work performance, and give the missing dimension towards great result.
I became a coach because I like to empower individuals’ uniqueness, and to bring win-win situations to organizations. I became a coach to support and foster creativity and cohesion within individuals and corporations.
Who do you typically coach?
I coach individuals, from middle to senior management, who want to achieve more and increase self-fulfilment: by improving their interpersonal and management skills, increasing quality of life, and bringing change in their work and in their career.
I support corporate leaders, at HQ and at local level, on brand and cohesion building.
Tell us something unique about your coaching style
I am an agent of change supporting adaptability, creativity and individuals’ strengthening. I am usually strong at asking questions and giving acknowledgement to develop awareness. Playfulness is also part of the game. Actually, my clients understand that I truly believe in their power and unique qualities.
What is your favourite coaching tool or technique?
I privilege diversity and a creative tool box to offer my clients a tailored approach
What is your greatest accomplishment?
I would say parenting. Beyond that, the one thing I am really proud of is the shift that I achieved three years ago - switching my perspective from the head to heart transformed my whole life and the quality of my relationships.
What are you reading at the moment?
I get a lot of insights reading ‘The inner game of work’ by Timothy Gallwey: a very inspiring book about the development of excellence in individuals at work. It brings me a new articulation of inner and outer forces adapted to the workplace. Besides, I learn methods and tools that I can apply to my own work.
I also turned the last page of ‘L’Homme qui voulait etre heureux’ (the man who wants to be happy) by French coach Laurent Gounelle. The book, written as a novel, gives an educative introduction to beliefs that I eagerly shared with my circle of friends.
What do you do for fun and relaxation?
Quietness, brightness and sights of mountains make my home a relaxing place. Apart from reading, I enjoy yoga, hiking and swimming, talking and sharing with my 25-year-old son who initiates changes with a new job, a new apartment…, over skype; inviting friends for a BQQ on the rooftop of my flat. I love travelling and scuba diving -I have lately been to the Philippines and Cambodia - and other outdoor activities that I share with my partner when we are in the same part of the planet.
