HKICC STRATEGY Project: Status Report

In the August Newsletter I informed you about the strategy workshop conducted by Douglas Gerber in early August 2007.
In the meantime, several workgroups have started working on the identified strategic options to make our vision of 1,000 members by end of 2009 a reality. One of the keys to that achievement will be a more segmented membership with specific — and expanded — membership benefits.
Based on the work of the membership workgroup and decision by the Executive Committee, beginning in January 2008, there will be three types of membership:
A) Standard Members
These will enjoy more or less the same benefits as the current members except for the option to be listed in the Coach Directory, i.e. they can:
- Be part of the largest coach association in Hong Kong and one of the largest in Asia
- Attend Professional Development Meetings free of charge
- Post articles in the monthly newsletter (subject to approval by the editor)
- Become listed in the HKICC membership list (http://www.coachinghk.org/membership_listing.htm )
- Get limited access to a ‘members only’ area on HKICC website (not available yet; access limitation to be determined)
- Attend paid events organized by HKICC at a discounted rate (typically 15–20%)
B) Associate Members
These will typically be members who are not coaches yet, but are considering becoming a coach in the future.
They benefit from the above advantages PLUS:
- Have the possibility to post one free advertisement per newsletter (max. 100 words including links to other websites / marketing documents)
- May participate in a buddy coaching service
- Can receive mentor coaching from professional members at discounted rates
- Get full access to a ‘members only’ area on HKICC website (not yet available)
C) Professional Members
They are typically coaches or people involved in coach training.
They will enjoy the same benefits as A and B above, PLUS:
- Listing in the new Coach Directory (more details below)
- Be able to co-organize paid events together with HKICC. Such events must be coaching related, and shall be organized on a profit-sharing basis between coach and HKICC (not in place yet, details to be determined)
- Have the option to create a professional video clip (approx. 30 seconds) for the HKICC website at a strongly discounted rate (not available yet, demo & offer to be worked out)
Other benefits may be added to any of the above categories going forward.
We expect a strong growth in category A, particularly because members will get a 15–20% discount on paid events; for example, if a 1-day paid workshop is charged at 2,000 HKD for non-members then members would pay only 1,600 HKD. The difference would already almost pay the 1-year membership for standard members.
HKICC will start co-organizing such events starting from early 2008 together with their Professional Members.
Corporate Membership
Each category will be available for individual and corporate members. Corporate members enjoy additionally two benefits:
- Nomination of 3 delegates; name of delegate may change over the membership year (limited number of changes per year to be determined)
- Company logo placement in membership listing, advertisements (categories B/C only) and the new Coach Directory (C only)
New Coach Directory
The Executive Committee agreed to invest in an interactive, user-friendly and more professional coach directory with the following features:
1. Registration Form
Form to be filled online by professional member with certain required and certain optional fields. Form will be made available online only after approval from web editor to assure high quality standards.
2. Coach Directory
The directory itself would open with a search page where the visitor can tick / select criteria for the search of appropriate coaches
After submitting the search info, the results would be presented with a listing of the short profiles of those coaches who match the search criteria. These short profiles may include the photograph of the coach (if submitted with the form). The visitor can then select from among the list to see the full coach profile (one web page per full profile)
We expect the new directory to be fully functional by the end of 2007 to match with the new membership structure starting from Jan 01, 2008. The new Coach Directory will be a major benefit for professional members.
Further details about the new membership structure are available on request. In October 2007 you will be informed about the related new fee structure, well ahead of its coming in effect from January 01, 2008.
