Pro Bono Coaching Project for Non-Profit Organizations
By Lee Wai Lan, VP Community Projects
The Pro Bono Coaching Project for
Non-profit Organization is a pilot
collaboration of the Hong Kong International
Coaching Community (HKICC) and Asian Pacific
Alliance of Coaches (APAC). It has been
launched in May 2010 and is expected to be
finished in September 2010. This joint
venture’s objective is to promote coaching
to the public and to enable the senior
executives of non-profit organizations to be
more effective, efficient and sustainable
with the provision of voluntary one on one
coaching service.
The response of HKICC members participating
in this project was very encouraging. We
have eight active committee members,
including experienced and new coaches,
working together for briefing session,
chemistry-check sessions, coaching
agreements and evaluation form, etc., in
order to provide professional and quality
service to our clients.

The project cannot be smoothly launched
without the coaches’ voluntary contribution
of their time and putting their heart into
the project. We must give our hearty thanks
to Jane Strangward, Oliver Love, Charlie
Liang, Gudren Gkittel Thong, Eva Luk, Fanny
Cheung, and Sally Dellow. Some of them, who
are used to coaching executives in
corporations shared in the briefing session
on 12 May 2010 that they would like to gain
the new experience of coaching senior
executives in non-profit organizations and
would like to support the senior executives,
whose change will lead to helping more
people they served.
We must also highlight that the number of
coaches that applied for the project is
outnumbered the number of clients in this
pilot. We hope those coaches would
contribute themselves later in other
projects. The participating agencies of this
pilot include: Mother Choice, PLAN
International, English Language Institute in
China (ELIC) and International Care
Ministries (ICM). We, the sub—committee, are
planning to spread the news of the impact of
coaching to the non-profit organizations.

With the mission to spread coaching to the
community and enlighten other people’s
lives, we hope that more HKICC members will
join us as project committee members or
voluntary coaches in future. |
